Landscape Arch has an opening spanning an incredible 306 feet, which may make it the longest stone span in the world. Partition Arch itself is a beautiful window-like arch in a majestic fin of Entrada Sandstone. This hike passes by Landscape Arch and the remains of Wall Archa slickrock formation that collapsed in the summer of 2008. This is an easy trail to hike on-flat and double-wide all the way (and usually heavily populated with hikers, so get an early start to avoid crowds). The Partition Arch Trail is a family-friendly, out and back route in Arches National Park. It’s one of those must-see features of Arches National Park. Before hitting the trails, make sure you have a day pack ready. Arches National Park can be a barren landscape, where water and shade-cover are generally unavailable. Plus, two more arches are easily reached with a short side trip. Landscape Arch is located inside Arches National Park, a 76,679-acre park named for the 2,000 or so natural sandstone arches that dot its high-desert landscape. The first major attraction, Landscape Arch, is nearly a mile from the trailhead, but there’s plenty to see along the way. A large parking lot often proves to be not large enough, so prepare to circle a few times before finding a spot at the trailhead for such sites as Landscape and Double “O” Arches. Your third choice is the quickest and easiest: walk about 300 feet to a viewpoint near the parking area, attach your zoom lens, and click off a few uninspired photos.
